Clothing and shoe measurements guide
Prepare measurements to compare with the size chart for the exact garment or shoe.

Use one consistent unit
Take measurements in centimetres unless the listing uses another unit. Keep a note of the unit with every number. Measure comfortably rather than pulling the tape tight, and repeat the measurement to catch an obvious mistake.
Clothes and shoes use different guides
For clothing, record the measurements requested by the garment’s size chart, such as chest, waist and hip. For shoes, follow the brand’s foot-length instructions and check the size system. Do not treat an EU shoe size and a UK shoe size as the same label.
A chart is specific to the listing
Fit can differ between designs even within a brand. Read the fabric and fit description with the chart, and check return conditions before choosing. If no chart is available and fit matters, ask for dimensions rather than assuming a familiar size will work.
